These all include registration of death, the transferring of the deceased into our care, dressing of the body and the funeral arrangements with clergy, doctors, florists, cemetery, hearse, online funeral notice and the like. Once the mortuary treatment of the deceased has been undertaken and the availability of the Chapel organised, a single viewing between 8.00 a.m.- 5.00 p.m. weekdays can be arranged.
Creative Funerals
The funeral is like a last good-bye and a celebration of a life. The ceremony itself is a time when you can reflect on the person's life, sharing the moment with family and friends. Making the funeral reflective of the person who died helps this process. If the person was conservative and traditional, the funeral should reflect it. If they appreciated simplicity, the funeral should be uncomplicated. The more the funeral is characteristic of the person, the more it helps with the grieving process.
Friends and family overseas or inter-state can also share in the experience of the funeral with the family. Using the appropriate technology, a webcast of the service can be done via the internet when a service is held in a chapel at Macquarie Park, North Ryde, Northern Suburbs Crematorium and Rookwood Crematorium. The person and the funeral will be remembered in a number of ways. Small keepsake cards and additional funeral stationary is part of the TJ Andrews service. You can also have a DVD recording of the ceremony. Funerals are an important means of expression.
Personalising the funeral can be even more original. At one particular funeral, some 200 balloons were released into the air, reflecting the vitality that person had. Sometimes special instructions are given to the arranging of flowers or for donations to be given to a particular charity. People may even choose to have the funeral at one of many public locations, such as a beach, after obtaining the appropriate approval.
Sometimes the person may have had relatives and good friends who knew their family well and would want to attend but can't. There are many reasons why people can't attend a funeral. Sometimes they may not be able to travel. They may not have the necessary finances to fly from overseas to Australia, may not be allowed to take the time off from work or may be unfit to fly. Ask your TJ Andrews arranger about options which enable mourners overseas or interstate to be able to view a funeral via live video streaming or DVD.
You can rest assured that TJ Andrews will help you find the right way to celebrate a life and help you say goodbye in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
War Veteran Funerals
T.J. Andrews Funeral Services offers special pricing for returned service personnel and their spouses.
The funeral service is of course tailored to the requests of the family involved. However we would like to outline here some of the services offered by T.J. Andrews to the families of returned service personnel and their spouses.
A national flag can be draped over the coffin. A cushion is provided for the display of medals if appropriate. The Australian Army slouch hat may also be placed on the coffin as a symbol of courage and national pride. A representative, or representatives, of the RSL Sub-branch of which the deceased was a member can be invited to attend the service and, if requested, the Ode may be recited. Sometimes an RSL representative can also give a brief outline of the deceased’s military service history at the funeral. The Last Post and Reveille may also be played either by a bugler or by a CD recording. Poppies can be made available for ex-service personnel or their representatives to place on the coffin as a symbol of the deceased’s sacrifice to their country.
Families of returned service personnel can be guided through the appropriate options available to them by our funeral arranging staff who have been fully trained in the rituals and requirements of an RSL Service. Your T.J. Andrews representative will make all the necessary contact with the local RSL Sub-branch concerned. Usually military service records of former Australian Service Men and Women are kept by the Sub-branch and can be accessed at the time of the funeral by the Sub-branch representative who will be invited to speak.
